 | JOE’S BRIEF ON TOP ISSUES - Fiscal Responsibility:
On March 17, when I declared my candidacy, the national debt was $12.5 trillion. The debt, now nearly $13.4 trillion, will soon be approaching $14 trillion. We must balance the budget, begin paying down the debt, eliminate departments, cut earmarks, implement zero based budgeting, fully reinstate PAYGO, eliminate automatic increases and reduce dependency on foreign sources to fund the government. This is a National Security issue. The time for talk and task forces to study the issue is long gone. -read more- - Energy Independence:
Only greater diversification of our fuel choices, bio-diesel, cellulosic ethanol, solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, natural gas and nuclear, will provide lasting energy security. We must encourage industry to invest in alternative and renewable energy. I will lead the way and introduce legislation to establish a trust with industry to drive the research, development and deployment of alternative and renewable energy sources. -read more- - Immigration:
We must enforce current immigration laws. Promote the philosophy; multiple cultures united, one people, one language, one nation. Penalize illegal aliens, fine employers hiring illegal aliens, fully secure our borders, implement e-verify, fund US-VISIT and mandate the attorney general enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act. We must not lose sight that the National Debt, Energy Independence and Immigration are all issues that affect the National Security of the United States of America. I will work these critical issues while supporting legislation to secure our borders, power plants, ports, harbors and refineries. However, I will oppose all legislation that erodes the rights of the American people and compromises the Constitution under the guise of national security. -read more-
