Dear Friends, For over a decade, I have sought to create effective change by actively participating in the political process from behind the scenes. I've always been proud of our country and the principles upon which it was founded; however, we all deserve to be proud of our government. Congress abdicates its responsibilities under the Constitution, they choose political expedience over what’s right for the nation and are influenced more by special interest groups, than the people they represent. An entrenched body of career politicians erodes accountability and responsiveness, promotes a growing national debt and maintains the status quo. Roscoe Bartlett, for all his considerable virtues is an entrenched politician not the self professed Citizen Legislator he claims. He talks about “peak oil”, monetary issues, Immigration reform and deficit spending, yet he does nothing to seriously effect change. He campaigned on term limits, signed the “Contract with America”, and now after nearly 19 years, fails to display true leadership and deliver on his promises. The Founding Fathers formed a republic in which the power to govern comes from the people and established the House to represent the people. It’s now time to return the House to the people, as the founding Fathers envisioned it, on that September day in 1787, when they signed the Constitution. That seat in the House of Representatives is not a Republican seat, it’s not a Democratic seat, it’s the people’s seat and the people deserve effective representation and leadership in Washington, something the current occupant has failed to deliver. We now face one of the largest tax increases in history, increasing intrusions on the authority of local governments and attempts to legislate away, one by one, individual freedom. Congress won’t change until we change Congress. It’s time to take back our government from entrenched career politicians and return it to the people! It is our duty to ensure that our children and grandchildren are not burdened with this generation’s deficit spending, the consequences of a failed energy policy, a failed immigration policy, federal encroachment on local government, eroding personal liberties and an insecure world where the United States is under siege. I’ve decided I can no longer sit on the sidelines! We must never forget that it’s about the people, it’s about the future, it’s about the principles upon which this country was founded and not career politicians, lobbyists, special interest or partisan politics. Thank you and God Bless the United States of America. |
